How to Announce Your SaaS on X: Hooks, Formats, and Timing

Most SaaS launch posts on X get under 50 impressions because they lead with the product name. Here is the hook format, video format, and posting timing that actually gets traction.

Most SaaS launch posts on X get fewer than 50 impressions. Not because the product is bad but because the post leads with the product name, which means nothing to anyone who has not heard of it. Announcing a SaaS on X is a copywriting problem before it is a distribution problem.

Lead with the problem, not the product name

The first line of a launch post on X is the only line most people read. If that line is the product name, the post loses. If that line names a pain that the reader has felt, the post earns a second line.

Three hook formats that work consistently for SaaS launch posts:

  • Contrast hook. Before and after in one sentence. “Founders were spending $150 on a freelance editor for a launch video. saasclips does it from a URL in under a minute.”
  • Specificity hook.A number that is surprising. “We shipped 47 videos for 47 landing pages before we launched. Here is what we learned.”
  • Outcome hook. The result first, method second. “That launch video I posted yesterday? Built from a URL. No editor, no footage.”

The body: what, who, and where

After the hook, the post needs three things in as few words as possible: what the product does, who it is for, and where to get it. One sentence each. The link goes at the end, not in the middle.

Avoid listing features. Features are for the landing page. The launch post on X is a trailer, not a spec sheet.

Video beats text for SaaS launch posts on X

X gives native video posts more reach than text-only posts in the same feed position. The algorithm treats a video upload as a richer post and distributes it to more accounts. A SaaS launch post on X with a square video gets more impressions than the same post with a screenshot.

The video does not need to explain the product. It needs to show the product exists, what it looks like, and give one reason to click. Eight to fourteen seconds is the right length for a launch video in the X feed.

When to post

For a SaaS launch post on X, Tuesday through Thursday between 9 AM and noon in your target time zone is consistently the highest-engagement window. Monday sees lower engagement because people are catching up. Friday sees lower completion rates on threads.

Product Hunt launches are timed to 12:01 AM PST regardless of day. If you are running a PH launch in parallel with the X announcement, the X post goes up when the PH page is live.

Thread or single post

The launch post itself should be a single post with the video. Keep it standalone so it can be shared and understood without context.

The thread goes as a reply to the launch post. It can go deeper: the problem, the build story, the feature breakdown. Replies to the launch post keep all engagement on one thread and extend its visibility as the thread grows.

The visual

A square 1080×1080 video fills the X feed column on mobile. A landscape video gets letterboxed. A screenshot without motion does not draw the eye the way a video does.

saasclips generates a 1080×1080 launch video directly from a landing page URL. Paste the URL, pick a section, download the MP4. The same file posts to X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Threads.

Add a launch video to your X announcement

Paste your landing page URL and get a square video ready to attach to the launch tweet. Under a minute, no editor.
